On The Table: BA: Baal, HQ’s, Tac, DeathCO; Eldar: Fire Dragons

So after a few stressful weeks of school, I am back to painting as usual. Here are some Work In Progress shots of what is on my paint table and work bench.

Blood Angels: Dante, Brother Corbulo, Lemartes, The Sanguinor, Priests, Death Company.

I sanded everything down and base primed all of these models. I am still not sure how I want to outfit these Death Company models but I magnetized the Jump Packs and I am thinking: Powerfist, Power Weapon, Infernus Pistol and maybe 2 regular guys. Unfortunately I put the standard pack magnets on backwards so I will have to either fix this or buy another full set of DC and just use the other polarity. Who doesn’t want more Death Company for Apocalypse right?

I am basing all of the standard troops in Army Painter: Red, all of the HQ’s, IC’s etc GW White, and of course the Death Company GW Black (although Gray Primer and building up with washes would prob be smarter).

Blood Angels: Tactical Marines

23 Tactical Marines sanded and primed. I realized after taking the pictures that I rested them on my Space Hulk box, too funny. I may run at least one squad of regular Tac Marines in my 2k list. We shall see.

Blood Angels: Baal Predator

Magnetizing the Baal Predator from Rhino to all Baal options was inspired by Ron at FTW. I really liked his conversion and it just seems silly to not take the extra time with this. My problem however, is with the side sponsons. It is not impossible by any means to hack apart the sponsons and make some conversion piece that will allow Flamers or Heavy Bolters. It may look a little awkward, but I am sure it is possible by doing something with the joint they fit in. I just cannot imagine when I would ever want to use Flamers over Heavy Bolters, and if I did, it might be better just to buy another junction piece and have the entire side parts modular instead of magnetizing 3 tiny pieces that have to be containerized when not in use. I did not glue together the chassis just yet, as I want to paint the inside as well. This will be my Fast Attack piece for the Freebootaz monthly challenge.

Eldar: Fire Dragons

Here I have 10 Fire Dragons (inc 2 Exarchs). I love the firepike, but I always use the Dragons Breath Flamer. While having the extra range on the Pike is nice, I never risk jumping out and taking that single shot if the rest of the squad is out of range. I can see it having great potential for just making more stuff in range once they blew up their primary target on subsequent turns, but having that heavy flamer just makes jumping out at troops more worth while.
